 As per request...

As per request this time I will write on the blog in English. I’ve been on ISS one month now and today Julia is leaving which will be a bit strange because she is the one who has been telling me what to do and where to go – both in the stable and in Trichy. The next volunteer, Sofie, comes on Sunday so I will only be alone for one day, though.

Everything here is going at its one pace, the children for this 3 months period will be evaluated within the next weeks. During the short month I’ve been here I have seen development and change in all the children, such as initiative, increased speech and more communication. It’s really pleasing to see that the riding therapy results in visual changes even during a short period of time. I will take over the training of horses after Julia and together with Sofie help the physiotherapist Bhardi with the horse therapy. Since the riding therapy classes always are in the mornings I’ll be able to spend some time with the other children in school during the afternoons. ISS has both a therapy swimming pool and a sensory room so there are plenty of activities to go around.

2012 is an extra good year to be a volunteer at ISS because in October we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of INTACT! I’m fortunate enough to be here and help with some of the preparations, which will be great fun. But it’s also important to take this opportunity to show how well needed INTACT is and how big difference it can have for one single child – and during these two decades there have been lots and lots of children.
